The Cardston Festival is a member of the Alberta Music Festival Association. The Cardston and District Rotary Music and Speech Festival has been an important part of Cardston for over 50 years. The Festival has had an impact upon the lives of countless young people in our community. The 2026 Festival has been generously sponsored by Cardston Pharmasave.

Participants and teachers are responsible for knowing and adhering to the rules governing Local Festivals as published in the Alberta Music Festival Association Syllabus. We highly encourage youth and adult participation in the Festival.

January 18th, 2026 - Registration Opens
February 6th, 2026 - Registration Closes
- Late Registrations will be accepted at the Coordinator's discretion. A $5 Late fee will be charged PER registration.
- Absolutely no registrations will be accepted after February 8th, 2024.

2026 Changes

Ensemble classes

- Definition of Chorus changed to eight or more members. 2 choristers to a part will be deleted.
- Removal of ensemble classes as they can be included in the new chorus classes.
- In School choral, entries in a class are based on the majority of students in a grade level. Age Range change to reflect the majority of students in a grade level. Community choir – 15 & under chorus classes will be kept.
- Community Choirs will be entered in Provincials as a video recording for all community choral classes.
- Terminology for Contemporary Vocals is suggested to be changed to Contemporary Commercial Vocals.
- Folk Songs should not be included in Contemporary Commercial Vocal Classes. Folk Song Style selections can be included in Contemporary Commercial Vocal Classes.
- 2 new Musical Theatre Classes at Provincials:
  - 13 & under Musical Theatre Duet,
  - 14 & over Musical Theatre Duet.
- Piano I discipline will now be termed Piano by Age.
- Piano II discipline will be termed as Piano by Grade.
- Piano Duets terminology will also change to Piano Duets by Age and Piano Duets by Grade.
- Piano Partita, English or French Suite and Sonata classes will be listed as:
  - Partial
  - Complete.
- School Chorus Junior/Middle School will now be Grade 6-9.
- School Chorus Senior High will now be Grade 9 - 12
- All Choral Classes will be called Chorus. Choral is for Choral Speech
